  • October 13th, at the Main Street Museum, White River Junction, Vermont https://www.mainstreetmuseum.org/  “From Piano Playing to the Player Piano, 1900 through the Roaring 20s”. Artis Wodehouse will trace the seismic cultural and social impact of the player piano, by discussing and demonstrating on the Museum’s restored player piano and discussing in some landmark piano rolls created from the early 1910s to the 1920s. She will pianolize (foot-pump) a selection of well-known opera and symphonic period piano roll arrangements, “hand-played” roll performances by famous classical composers such as Edvard Grieg, and popular ragtime and blues rolls by Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, and James P. Johnson.
